State of the State in New York State Labor Relations

Two representatives from the Public Employment Relations Board (PERB) will present a workshop and lead discussion on the background and current trends in negotiations and dispute resolution in the Public Sector from the perspective of neutral third parties. Subjects will include the (1) background and practice under the Taylor Law governing labor-management relations and negotiations, (2) dispute resolution processes including mediation and alternative dispute resolution (ADR) and (3) public policy aspects and issues currently facing the parties in negotiations and the neutrals who serve them, particularly during difficult economic times.
