"Downscaling Industrial Society for a Sustainable World: Preparing for Successful Conflict Management" Visiting Scholar, Professor Isidor Wallimann will discuss the global warming discourse points to the limits of an industrial society based on carbon fuels. Yet, the focus on climate change tends to suppress other dimensions important in attaining ecological and social sustainability. All point to the need to downscale industrial society. Downscaling industrial society will be associated with significant conflict potential (as is true should the present course be continued). In this context, a discussion of the major fields of conflicts to be expected is of great importance if only to better prepare for successful conflict management. It will also be important for coming through this phase in history with a minimal loss of human lives.

We’re Turning 100!

To mark our centennial in the fall of 2024, the Maxwell School will hold special events and engagement opportunities to celebrate the many ways—across disciplines and borders—our community ever strives to, as the Oath says, “transmit this city not only not less, but greater, better and more beautiful than it was transmitted to us.”

Throughout the year leading up to the centennial, engagement opportunities will be held for our diverse, highly accomplished community that now boasts more than 38,500 alumni across the globe.
