Peace and Security in Nuclear South Asia In recent years, Pakistan's role in the war against the Taliban and Al-Qaeda in Afghanistan and in its own Tribal Areas and India's emergence as a major economy and potential regional rival to China have become perhaps the central international concerns about these countries. These developments have drawn attention away from the nuclear arms race between Pakistan and India, even though both countries are rapidly developing and expanding their nuclear arsenals. This presentation will explore the current status of nuclear capabilities in South Asia and their connection to peace and security in the region and globally.
