Eggers Academic Village - 2nd Floor

Add to: Outlook, ICal, Google Calendar

The Japanese tea ceremony, also called the “Way of Tea” or “Hot Water for Tea,” is more than an elaborate ritual. It is an interlude in which one leads oneself for the moment to the spirit of beauty, quietude, and politeness toward others. In Japanese, it is called chanoyu (茶の湯) or chadō (茶道). The manner in which it is performed, or the art of its performance, is called otemae (お手前; お点前). Come join us for a Japanese cultural activity involving the ceremonial preparation and presentation of “matcha” powdered green tea. Japanese Tea and Variety of Tea Cookies will be provided   Please RSVP to participate in the Tea Ceremony at mjchoi@syr.edu
