South Asia Center presents Victor Yu-Juei Tzen, Assistant Professor of Architecture, Syracuse University. Path To Water The step wells and stepped ponds of Rajasthan and Gujarat have been an integral part of life and culture in this region of the Indian subcontinent for well over 1200 years. These water harvesting systems were borrowed, utilized, and adapted over time resulting in a palimpsest of cultural and physical changes. Building from this framework, the lecture focuses upon the rhizomatic nature of these spaces and the summer course deployed to study them.
