Selvi Boylum Al Yazmalim/ The Girl with the Red Scarf Directed by Atif Yilmaz, 1978 (95 min) Ilyas is a loner from Istanbul who comes to a remote village working as a truck driver. When his truck gets stuck in the mud, he meets a village girl called Asya; and they fall in love and get married. They soon have a child who they name Samet. Ilyas frequently leaves the village for his job and Asya is left alone to care for their baby; there comes a time when Ilyas leaves never to come back. Asya grows worried and takes off with Samet to search for her husband only to find out he is having an affair. On their journey, the devastated mother and child meet a man, Cemsit, who takes pity on them and offers them food and shelter. Samet becomes increasingly fond of Cemsit and Asya begins to see that Samet thinks of him as a father. Then one day, Ilyas suddenly returns and Asya is left to make a choice between him and Cemsit.
