PLACA presents: Somos Una America! Ending US Military Repression in the Americas

¡Somos Una America! Ending US Military Repression in the Americas Join PLACA and the Syracuse Peace Council for an open discussion on U.S. military training and funding to authoritarian regimes in Latin America & the Caribbean. Since 1946, the SOA has trained over 64,000 Latin American soldiers. These graduates have consistently used their skills to wage a war against their own people. Among those targeted by SOA graduates are educators, union organizers, religious workers, student leaders, and others who work for the rights of the poor. Hundreds of thousands of Latin Americans have been tortured, raped, assassinated, “disappeared,” massacred, and forced into exile by those trained at the School of the Americas. On April 26th at 4PM we will show a short film about the international movement to close the SOA, followed by a discussion on opportunities to get involved in independent efforts to close the US Army School and work for justice in the Americas.
