Dr. Teresa Gowan is the award-winning author of "Hobos, Hustlers and Backsliders: Homeless in San Francisco." She teaches and works in the fields of urban ethnography, poverty and inequality, and deviance and social control. Her most recent work investigates the crucial role of addiction and "rehab" within contemporary understandings of poverty and crime. She is an Associate Professor of Sociology at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities.
