East Asia Program Presents Richard C. Bush III on The Future of China-Taiwan Relations
During the past five years, relations between China and Taiwan have stabilized and improved, a dramatic contrast with the turmoil of the previous fifteen years. Dr. Bush will explore the reasons for the improvement and offer his views on whether current trends will continue. He will also speak about the implications for U.S. policy.
Prior to joining the Bookings Institution in 2002, Richard Bush was director of the American Institute in Taiwan. Earlier in his career, he was the National Intelligence Officer for East Asia. His latest book, Uncharted Strait: The Future of China-Taiwan Relations, was published by the Brookings Institution Press in January 2013. He graduated from Lawrence University and holds a Ph.D. from Columbia University.
