MERC presents: Winter on Fire, Ukraine's Fight for Freedom
November 21st 2015 marked the two year anniversary of Ukraine’s Euromaidan protests in Ukraine, also known as the “Revolution of Dignity.” From November 2013 to February 2014 the Ukrainian people gathered in Ukraine’s capital city Kyiv (in Russian Kiev), where they protested President Yanukovych and his regime. But why did the protestors gather, and what came of the protests? Ukrainian film director Evgeny Afineevsky dives into the events that unfolded during the cold and bitter months in Ukraine’s capital city, which eventually led to the crisis that Ukraine faces today.
