Jonathan Jennings on The Role of Transnational Medical NGOs in Response to Global Problems

Jonathan Jennings, Deputy Executive Director, Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF)/Doctors Without Borders, Canada

MSF takes a unique position in the humanitarian NGO community. Join us as Jonathan Jennings discusses MSF's global structure and its medical humanitarian mandate. He will describe challenges to independent humanitarian response inside current conflict zones, and will reflect on MSF’s role in global governance through the lens of two contemporary issues: the world’s response to the recent Ebola outbreak, and trends in conflict zones that garnered special attention from the United Nations Security Council.

Jonathan Jennings currently serves as Deputy Executive Director of MSF Canada in Toronto. He oversees the representational, operational and financial health of a uniquely ambitious non-profit organization. Jonathan joined MSF in 2005, worked long term in South Sudan, then on short missions to Ethiopia, India, DRC, north Uganda, Liberia and elsewhere. Prior to MSF, Jonathan lived and volunteered in conflict-affected Kosovo and worked with Save the Children.
