SPIC MACAY-Syracuse University would like to invite you for a sitar recital featuring Indrajit Roy-Chowdhury with Arup Chattopadhyay on the tabla at Setnor Auditorium, September 21st @ 7:30pm. This event is FREE, so invite all your friends!
Indrajit Roy-Chowdhury is a talented young exponent of Rampur Senia Gharana (school of music). Through his training in the Beenkar style of Sitar, Indrajit draws on techniques and idioms of the Veena; his music is known for achieving a fine balance of traditionalism and innovation. Arup Chattopadhyay is recognized as one of the most outstanding and sought after Tabla artists of this generation. Trained in the Farukkabad tradition of tabla playing, he has established himself as a top-notch accompanist as well as a formidable soloist. Arup is also a highly sought after teacher and since 1999 has been a visiting lecturer with University of California, San Diego.
