Korean Peninsula Affairs Center presents
Civil Society Dialogues in U.S.-China and U.S.-North Korea Relations
This talk will explore the ways in which civil society organizations carry forward the messages received during track II dialogues and seek to transfer these messages to policymakers and into actionable policy. Jasper will recount his experience of track II mechanisms with North Korean and Chinese counterparts and subsequent advocacy efforts that build on these efforts. Most notably, Jasper will discuss efforts that impacted international agreements such as the Singapore Joint Statement between the United States and North Korea as well as recent research demonstrating the quantifiable results of U.S.-China dialogues.
