The United States ended its twenty year presence in Afghanistan at the end of August 2021, but what really topped headlines was the subsequent rapid takeover by the Taliban. Decades of progress in equality, education and more is under threat - what will the future of Afghanistan look like, and will the United States get back involved?

Here’s a little more about GSF 2021: The Global Security Forum is an internationally recognized security conference, bringing together the world’s top security experts, speakers, and leaders to address the most critical global security issues. To mark our centennial in the fall of 2024, the Maxwell School will hold special events and engagement opportunities to celebrate the many ways—across disciplines and borders—our community ever strives to, as the Oath says, “transmit this city not only not less, but greater, better and more beautiful than it was transmitted to us.”
