Eight Years Later: What Has Gone Wrong With Syria's Conflict?
Deyaa Alrwishdi is a Syrian lawyer with an LL.M from American University Washington College of Law. Prior to the Syrian conflict, Mr. Alrwishdi served as a legal deputy at the Syrian Construction and Establishment Institute. As a lawyer, Mr. Alrwishdi worked at the national and international levels to defend victims of human rights violations in Syria, including directly defending activists arrested at protests and documenting violations and atrocities across Syria. He is the founder of the Free Syrian Lawyers Association and Center for Rule of Law and Good Governance that aim to lay a foundation for a transition to rule of law. Mr. Alrwishdi is a recipient of the Rubin International Human Rights Award from Stanford University.
