Julia L. Carboni (Ph.D. in management, University of Arizona) is an associate professor in the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public
Affairs at Syracuse University, where she teaches courses on nonprofit
management and fund development.
Her research focuses on collaborative arrangements
designed to address large-scale social issues and social media use and
management by nonprofit organizations. Professor Carboni serves on national
committees for several professional associations
including the Academy of Management, the American
Society for Public Administration, and the Association for Research on
Nonprofit Organizations and Voluntary Action. She also serves on the advisory board for the Indy Food Council.
Prior professional experience includes managing
youth mentoring and graduate education programs and alumni fundraising
for academic units. She was previously an assistant professor in the
School of Public and Environmental Affairs
and the Lilly Family School of Philanthropy at
Indiana University.

Amy Schmidt is the program coordinator for citizenship and civic engagement, which entails supporting students in their community
placements, student advising and managing the CCE office. Amy is from
Syracuse and has spent many years working
in the Central New York nonprofit sector, both
professionally and as a volunteer. She earned a master of public administration (M.P.A.) with a focus on nonprofit management from the
Maxwell School, and was selected a John Ben Snow and
Vernon Snow Fellow in Nonprofit Management. Prior to
returning to Maxwell, Amy worked at local organizations including Home
HeadQuarters, the Everson Museum of Art, and the Central New York
Community Foundation.
