Academic Facilities

Located in the Dupont Circle neighborhood of Washington, we have a unique presence in the nation's capital. The Maxwell School has entered into a far-reaching collaboration with a major Washington, D.C., think tank, the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS). The collaboration creates enhanced opportunities for education, research, and career development — while also strengthening Maxwell's presence in the nation's capital.

All Maxwell School classes in Washington take place at CSIS's headquarters at 1616 Rhode Island Avenue NW, a world-class facility with two-story conference space, multiple teaching areas, and state-of-the-art electronics and audiovisual facilities. CSIS will also house the Maxwell-in-Washington staff and visiting faculty from the School's Syracuse campus and will provide improved opportunities for Maxwell to conduct symposia, workshops, meetings, and expanded executive education programs in D.C.

CSIS is ranked the number one think tank in the United States. The bipartisan, nonprofit CSIS is one of the world's preeminent international policy institutions that, for more than 50 years, has focused on issues related to defense and security, regional stability, and transnational challenges ranging from energy and climate to global development and economic integration.

Student Housing

Undergraduate students in the Washington Semester program are required to live in the housing options arranged by the University except in rare circumstances. Currently, students in the program are living in the Washington Intern Student Housing (WISH) but at other times students may be living in other contracted and fully-furnished apartments in close proximity to classes at CSIS.
