Maxwell Day of Service
Partnering with the local community is a privilege that Maxwell students, faculty and staff take seriously. In addition to internships, capstone projects and other long-term collaborations, Maxwell regularly organizes opportunities to serve a variety of nonprofit organizations in the Central New York region.
Maxwell Living Learning Community
First-year Maxwell undergraduates are invited to apply to the Living Learning Community situated on the 4th floor of Lawrinson Hall. This is a unique opportunity to build rapport, study together and explore how the social sciences come to life in the surrounding community, all while supported by Maxwell faculty and staff and an upper-class Maxwell student serving as a peer mentor.
Maxwell Scholarship for Community Impact
Incoming first-year Maxwell School students engaged in community impact projects are invited to apply to the Maxwell School Scholarship for Community Impact. Four scholarships of $15,000 are awarded each year to celebrate the dedication and achievements of our students.
Civic and Community Engagement Minor
The civic and community engagement minor is designed to encourage students to evaluate ethical practices of citizenship and civic and community engagement. Students will evaluate the historical development of civic life in various geographical contexts and spaces.
Through their coursework, students will be familiarized with social science topics and methodologies to analyze community and societal life and values. They will learn responsible ways of fostering public-private partnerships, grassroots organizing and community collaborations to maximize social impact.
