Bio
Amir Durić serves as assistant dean for religious and spiritual life at Hendricks Chapel of Syracuse University. Prior to his current role, Durić served as Muslim chaplain and executive director of the office of Muslim Student Life at Syracuse University, the Chaplains' Council coordinator at Hendricks Chapel, and a pastoral counselor for several hospitals and institutions across Central New York.
He has over a decade of experience leading Muslim communities both domestically and abroad. His work has been recognized through the 2023 Chancellor's Diversity and Inclusion Award, the Award for Excellence by an Organizational Advisor at the 2024 Syracuse University 44 Stars of Excellence Gala, and the 2025 CNY RISE Center's Community Service Award.
Durić's scholarship and community work center on the experiences of Muslim students in higher education, interfaith engagement, and the intersection of faith and public life. Durić was named a 2024–2025 Interfaith America Innovation Fellow and has been awarded a 2025 “Islam in the contemporary world” research grant from the Center for Islam in the Contemporary World at Shenandoah University.
