Bio
Brandon Charles studies energy policy and governance, including the local impacts of energy resource development.
His current projects analyze the accumulation of municipal debt during the U.S. shale boom and future fiscal implications, regulatory policymaking at state public utility commissions, and the relationship between complexity in policy design and outputs. These projects draw on theories from the environmental economics, public finance, and policy process fields.
Prior to beginning graduate study, Charles worked for more than a decade in the utility industry, including consulting for a variety of public and private sector clients and serving as an expert witness in public utility commission proceedings.
