"The 2009 Elections and the Future of the Iranian Republic." Dr. Mehrzad Boroujerdi (Ph.D., American University, 1990) is Associate Professor of Political Science at the Maxwell School and the Founding Director of the Middle Eastern Studies Program. He has been a post-doctoral fellow at Harvard University and the University of Texas at Austin and the recipient of the Maxwell School's Daniel Patrick Moynihan Award for outstanding teaching, research, and service (1997-98). As a leading expert on Iran his research has been supported by Henry R. Luce Foundation, the Social Science Research Council, the Rockefeller Foundation, and the United States Institute of Peace. Dr. Boroujerdi is the author of many works including Iranian Intellectuals and the West (1996) and serves as an adjunct scholar at the Middle East Institute in Washington, DC.
