Dr.Babasaheb Ambedkar (2000) Directed by Jabar Patel, 180 minutes Dr.Babasaheb Ambedkar is one of the finest historical films made in Independent India. This movie takes place between the years 1901 to 1956, a period of great social upheavals and revolutionary movements around the world and tells the story of Ambedkar a contemporary of Gandhi and the first graduate of his community, the untouchables who goes to New York for higher studies and how his exchanges with Afro-Americans, his teachers who support Human Rights and the inclusion of the 14th Amendment in the US Constitution granting rights to African-Americans rouse the reformer in him. This film holds its significance due to the fact that, though the ethos contained is Indian, it has its equation in the political and social disparity all over the world.
