The Application of Bayesian Statistics in Social Science

Scott Lynch of Princeton University will conduct a day-long workshop on underlying theory, model formulation, and estimation approaches including Gibbs sampling. He will illustrate these topics with a number of empirical applications and include demonstrations of selected software (e.g., R and WinBUGS). Scott Lynch is a professor in the Department of Sociology at Princeton University, and is also affiliated with Princeton’s Office of Population Research. His research has appeared in sociology, health, gerontology, and demographic journals. He is also the author of Introduction to Applied Bayesian Statistics and Estimation for Social Scientists (Springer, 2007). This event is free and open to the SU community.
