New Urban Realities: Investigations from Local to Global Contexts
220 Eggers Hall
The Sociology Graduate Student Assemblage (SGSA) presents a graduate student symposium on research that works to advance knowledge on contemporary urban realities. Featuring student panelists from a range of disciplines, this symposium works to enrich our understanding of the different issues within urban spaces. There will be three panel discussions: Transformation of Urban Spaces, Unearthing Voices in Institutionalized Practice and Social Justice in Urban Space. The symposium will be launched by keynote speaker, Dr. Teresa Gowan, Associate Professor of Sociology at the University of Minnesota and author of the book Hobos, Hustlers and Backsliders: Homeless in San Francisco on Wednesday March 28, 2010 in 220 Eggers Hall at 4pm. All are invited to attend both events.
