SU Rising: Stop Violence Against Women

This Community Wide Dialogue  will include remarks from Tula Goenka, the South Asia Center; Himika Bhattacharya, assistant professor of Women and Gender Studies in The College of Arts and Sciences; Janet Epstein, director of the SU Advocacy Center; Lynn Levey, legal writing professor in SU’s College of Law; Paul Ang from A Men’s Issue (AMI) and the SU Mentors in Violence Prevention (MVP) Program; Rick Olanoff, trainer with the National Coalition Building Institute and Jennifer Shaw from Vera House. Laura Hollahan of SASSE will offer closing remarks, and an opportunity for discussion will follow. Students from AMI, SASSE and SU Zinda will lead everyone present in the One Billion Rising Dance to celebrate solidarity on this issue.

To mark our centennial in the fall of 2024, the Maxwell School will hold special events and engagement opportunities to celebrate the many ways—across disciplines and borders—our community ever strives to, as the Oath says, “transmit this city not only not less, but greater, better and more beautiful than it was transmitted to us.”

Throughout the year leading up to the centennial, engagement opportunities will be held for our diverse, highly accomplished community that now boasts more than 38,500 alumni across the globe.
