Middle Eastern Studies Program Presents: "Egypt: Between Post-Islamism and Military Fascism" by Ahmed El-Sayed Abdel Meguid

What are the roots and possible ramifications of the recent military coup in Egypt? How can we understand the reactions of the Egyptian people socially and culturally to it? The talk reflects on these questions based on eyewitness encounters and professional experiences in Egypt.

Ahmed El-Sayed Abdel Meguid is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Religion, Syracuse University. He earned his BA at the American University in Cairo and his MA and Ph.D. at Emory University. His research focuses on Islamic and German Philosophy with a special focus on social and political philosophy.
