The Future of International Cooperation with Africa: The Perspective of a Young Leader

The African continent has been at the center of the discourse on global diplomacy, global political economy, and balance of power. This has posed competition between different global power centers and at some point led to the compromise of key sustainable development parameters that would benefit African generations. My talk will focus on my leadership journey after the Mandela Washington Fellowship and the experience I have had in the process. I will then offer my take on existing opportunities for young leaders and the future as I see it in terms of international cooperation with Africa.

Dr. Churchill Saoke is the Director for Alumni and International Students Office and a Lecturer in the Department of Physics at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT). He has a strong passion for leadership and is the founder of PU International, an organization that not only empowers young people but also promotes development in communities. In addition, Dr. Soake is a frequent commentator on governance on KTN TV, Citizen TV, and KBC TV in Kenya. He is also an author, an inspiring leader, and a champion for development. He holds an MSc in Physics, an MA in diplomacy and international relations, and a Ph.D. in Physics specializing in wind energy engineering.
