The Moynihan Institute's Trade, Development and Political Economy (TDPE) program presents a special panel discussion with Minju Kim, assistant professor of political science; Devashish Mitra, professor of economics; and Ryan Monarch, associate professor of economics and the director of TDPE. Kristen Patel, professor of practice, will chair this panel discussion.
On April 2, 2025, U.S. President Donald Trump announced the largest one-day tariff hike in at least 70 years. In the year since, a flurry of other changes have occurred, including tariffs ratcheting up and down, trade deals, a historic Supreme Court decision and many others. This panel of Maxwell School experts breaks down what is happening now, what we have learned about the effects of the tariffs, and what the future holds for the U.S. and global economy.
