Sponsored by PARCC Location: 400A Eggers Time: 12:30-1:30 pm Description: January, 23, 2020, PARCC Conversations in Conflict Studies Series. Guest Speaker: Leonard Scott Newman, Associate Professor, Department of Psychology. What is Dehumanization? Implications for Conflict and (Hopefully) Collaboration". Brief description: Dehumanization is often identified as a core component of violent intergroup conflict; some have argued it is even a necessary factor. But what exactly is dehumanization, and what evidence do we have for its unique effects on behavior? This talk will review psychologists' recent theorizing about and research on dehumanization.
