For the sixth consecutive time, the Maxwell School of Syracuse University has landed atop U.S.News and World Report's rankings of graduate schools of public affairs.  Maxwell has held the number-one spot since the rankings category for public affairs was created in 1995.

U.S.News also ranked Maxwell first in the public affairs specialties of:  public management and administration, and public finance and budgeting; and second in the specialties of nonprofit management and information, and technology management.  Overall, the School landed in the top ten in seven specialties.

At the core of Maxwell's stellar reputation in public affairs is its master of public administration degree program, which was created nearly 90 years ago as the nation's first such professional program.  Additionally, Maxwell is the only graduate school whose professional programs in public administration and international affairs are integrated with social science departments (political science, history, anthropology, sociology, geography, and economics).  This tradition of interdisciplinary research provides a rich context for the study of public policy analysis and management that features a rigorous blend of theory, policy, and practice.

The U.S.News rankings are based on a peer survey of 266 master of public affairs and public administration programs around the country who recognized Maxwell's outstanding achievements in scholarship and curriculum, and the quality of its faculty and graduates.
