In early April, former U.S. Senator Bill Bradley spoke in Maxwell Auditorium on the corrupting impact of money in politics, thereby launching the new Tanner Lecture Series on Ethics, Citizenship, and Public Responsibility.

The series has been generously endowed by W. Lynn Tanner '75 PhD (PA), founder, CEO, and chairman of TEC Canada, a leadership development organization helping to develop 21st-century leaders. With the series, Tanner hopes to provide a public forum to discuss such questions as, What does it mean to be an ethical citizen? What does the need for public responsibility demand from us? Do these demands vary if we work in the private or public sectors, or if we are entry-level employees or top leaders?

In addition to his lecture, Bradley visited classrooms and shared lunch with students. When the series resumes this fall, it will build on this type of interaction. It is expected that future Tanner lecturers will take part in a day-long, colloquium-like mix of lectures and other conversations with students, faculty members, and the community.
