The Moynihan Institute’s Middle Eastern Studies program presents a virtual talk with Professor Netta Barak-Corren from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and Princeton University.

Barak-Corren will explain the major changes to the Israeli legal system that the current government has pushed forward against Israel’s current system of government; survey the current state of affairs; and discuss potential paths forward—specifically, whether there are viable solutions for the social and political crisis that engulfs Israel.

Professor Netta Barak-Corren is a legal scholar and cognitive scientist focusing on empirical and behavioral analysis of constitutional and public law, with a particular interest in conflicts of rights, the interaction between law and religion, and the interaction law and social norms.

Currently, she is a professor of law at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem; a member of the Federmann Center for the Study of Rationality; and Law, Ethics, and Public Policy Fellow at the University Center for Human Values, Princeton University.

She previously taught at Harvard University, Chicago Law School and Penn Carey Law School. She has published and commented extensively on the Israeli Constitutional Crisis—both in Israel and abroad—and initiated, designed, and led a proposal to address the crisis through a Constituent Assembly.
