Mingzhang Qiao is a Ph.D. candidate in economics at Syracuse University. His research focuses on econometric theory and applied causal inference, with particular interests in productivity, labor markets and policy evaluation.
His current work develops robust inference methods for extremely unbalanced panel data and applies machine learning–based estimators to study the heterogeneous causal effects of job loss on mental health. He also conducts empirical analyses on labor market resilience and reemployment dynamics using survival and panel-data models.
Mingzhang holds an M.S. in economics from the University of Wisconsin–Madison and a B.S. in economics from Jilin University.
