Maxwell Awards of Excellence

The Maxwell Awards of Excellence highlight Maxwell alumni and friends who exemplify a commitment to active and engaged citizenship in their organizations and communities.

The awards are presented annually at the school's spring alumni program and reception in Washington, D.C., and are also commemorated through a series of banners displayed in Eggers Hall.

The nomination period for our 2025 Awards of Excellence has closed. To nominate an individual for future consideration, contact the Maxwell Alumni Office.

Award Categories

Compass Award

Recognizes early-career alumni for exceptional accomplishments and impact in their careers or communities. Nominees will have graduated within the last 15 years of their most recent Maxwell degree.

1924 Award

Honors graduates for their distinguished and sustained professional or civic leadership and achievement in the spirit of the Maxwell School mission.

Charles V. Willie Advocate Award

Recognizes alumni whose contributions to their organizations or communities reflect Maxwell’s commitment to creating an environment that is welcoming to all and with an orientation to engaged citizenship.

Bridge Award

Recognizes alumni who demonstrate outstanding, transformative leadership in business while embodying the Maxwell School’s commitment to advancing the public good and creating lasting, positive impact.

Spirit of Public Service Award

Honors individuals whose career contributions and impact reflect on a widespread and global scale the mission of the Maxwell School. Nominees need not be graduates.
