Brianna Hinkley is a cultural anthropology doctoral student at Syracuse University with a concentration in medical anthropology. Prior to coming to Syracuse, Brianna received her B.A. in anthropology with a health and medicine minor from the University of Maine at Farmington. Her research focus is on women’s reproductive rights and the anthropology of birth. She has conducted research on the birth experiences of first-time mothers amidst the COVID-19 pandemic in rural Maine in 2019. Her other work has explored obstetric violence frameworks in South and North America, the history of American gynecology, and reproductive rights in Peru.
