Bio

Jack is a native New Jerseyan and received his BA in Psychology from The College of New Jersey (TCNJ) in Ewing, New Jersey. He is an AmeriCorps alumnus of six years, including a service term in Charlotte, North Carolina for Teach For America (TFA) where he taught high school biology. His subsequent year at the Maxwell School provided Jack with an MPA to prosecute a brief, though prolific, career as a public sector consultant in Washington, DC.

Jack came home to Syracuse as a Senior Associate at the Maxwell X Lab: a behavioral economics lab working with public organizations to leverage randomized controlled trials (RCT) in real-world settings. Some of his recent projects include developing behavioral interventions to increase census self-response rates, assessing diversity in the world of community opera, and increasing utilization of food benefits for veterans. Jack thinks and writes about similar research areas for his doctoral research: behavioral public administration, social welfare participation, and the benefits/frictions of technology relative to public services. Sarah Hamersma and Peter Wilcoxen have graciously accepted the responsibility of being Jack’s advisors for the next few years, and he intends to be only a moderate burden. Currently, Jack enjoys rowing, running, and riding his bicycle on CNY’s lakes, trails, and backroads. He also is learning to play the guitar; it is going ok.
