Bio
Ruoyang is a doctoral student in the Anthropology Department and focuses on sociocultural and medical anthropology.
His research explores how bodies are conceptualized and enacted in medicine, as well as how different medical treatments (re)make each other in/through their ontological encounters. He is particularly interested in how these embodied processes are enmeshed with the lived experiences of Chinese immigrants in the U.S., including their senses of belonging.
Before coming to Syracuse University, Ruoyang received a master's degree in social science from the University of Amsterdam (The Netherlands) in 2024 and a bachelor's degree in sociology from Fudan University (Shanghai, China) in 2022.
