Join us virtually for part one of a three-part Maxwell DC conversation series, “Make America Healthy Again: Public Health in Changing Times.”
Led by Maxwell professor and health economist John Cawley, this three-part series examines what it means to be “healthy” in America today. Along with researchers and policymakers, the series explores how economics, politics and policies are shaping Americans’ well-being.

Session 1: The Politics of Weight Loss Drugs

The rapid expansion of GLP-1–based weight loss drugs raises questions for health economists and policymakers alike. This session will consider issues of access, pricing and evidence versus stigma, as well as the implications for Medicare and Medicaid coverage.
