Anthropologist Christopher DeCorse Named Distinguished Professor
Christopher DeCorse, professor and chair of anthropology, has been recognized for exemplary stature in his academic field by being named Distinguished Professor, one of the highest honors awarded faculty at Syracuse University.

University Announces 2023-24 Remembrance Scholars
“The Remembrance Scholars represent the future while honoring the past, which is both a great privilege and a great responsibility,” says Vice Chancellor and Provost Gretchen Ritter. “This year’s students, who have demonstrated strong leadership skills and a commitment to service, are up to the task. As with those who were tragically lost nearly 35 years ago, we are proud that these students are members of our University community.”

Maxwell Students and Alumni Will Teach Around the World Through Fulbright US Student Program
Maxwell students Nish Chowdhury and Camran Shealy, and alumna Sarah Dolbier '22 are among those named 2023 recipients of awards through the Fulbright U.S. Student Program. The program funds a range of awards that include English teaching assistantships (ETA) and study/research grants in over 140 countries.

Four Maxwell Students Will Participate in Highly Competitive Public Affairs Experiences This Summer
Isabella Brown and Madelin DeJesus Martinez, both policy studies majors, will attend the Public Policy and International Affairs (PPIA) junior summer institute at Carnegie Mellon University. Alexandria Johnson, an international relations major, will participate in the summer enrichment program through the Charles B. Rangel International Affairs Program. Erykah Pasha, a political science and sociology major, will participate in the Summer Research Opportunity Program (SROP) at the University of Michigan.

Silverstein, Takeda Receive 2023 Excellence in Graduate Education Faculty Recognition Awards
The honor is presented to faculty members who have a significant, positive influence on graduate education through their commitment to superior graduate teaching, dedication to departmental and community presence and work in research initiatives.

The One University Awards Ceremony, an annual event to honor members of the Syracuse University community who are making a difference through academics, scholarship, creative work and dedicated service, will be held Friday, April 21.

Maxwell Student Iona Volynets Selected as 2023 Truman Scholar
The Truman Scholarship was awarded this year to 62 exceptional college juniors in recognition of their community service, academic accomplishment and commitment to a career of public service. Volynets, majoring in history and international relations, was among 199 finalists selected from more than 705 candidates nominated by schools and colleges from around the country.

PhD Student Curtis Edmonds Found Community, Cultivated Political Passions on Campus
Last summer, Edmonds's involvement went from volunteering his time and his expertise to assisting his fellow Black students, especially incoming Black students, with facilitating their transitions to campus, to a paid position as 119 Euclid’s Graduate Scholar-in-Residence, an inaugural position in the Office of Diversity and Inclusion.

Maxwell Student Named Class of 2024 Senior Class Marshal
The Student Experience Division announced the selection of Lucio Maffei, a junior majoring in political philosophy as a Class of 2024 Senior Class Marshal. He will spend his senior year serving as one of the all-University representatives for his class and conclude his experience by leading the student procession during the 2024 Commencement ceremony.
