Maxwell students named 2019-20 Remembrance Scholars

The scholarships were founded as a tribute to—and means of remembering—the 35 students who were killed in the Dec. 21, 1988, bombing of Pan Am Flight 103 over Lockerbie, Scotland, and are funded through an endowment supported by gifts from alumni, friends, parents and corporations.

Model UN team named Outstanding Delegation at spring 2019 conference

The team earned the accolade for its portrayal of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia at the National Model United Nations conference held April 13-19. Eighteen students majoring in international relations participated as delegates in this academic conference.

Policy Studies student Kyle Rosenblum named 2020 Senior Class Marshal

The Senior Class Marshals exemplify what it means to be Orange as well-rounded leaders who have excelled academically and co-curricularly, all while engaging on campus and beyond through research, service and leadership opportunities. “I am most looking forward to forming new and strengthening existing connections throughout campus,” Rosenblum says.

Supreme Court scholar Thomas Keck is a 2019 Carnegie Fellow

Thomas M. Keck, professor of political science and the Michael O. Sawyer Chair of Constitutional Law and Politics at Maxwell, is a leading expert on the Supreme Court, American constitutional development, and the use of legal strategies by movements for social change. The Carnegie Fellows program is the most generous initiative of its kind, awarding researchers in the humanities and social sciences significant time to research, write, and publish.

Dina Eldawy, Crystal Letona, Danielle Schaf and Nathan Shearn were among the twelve seniors named as the 2019 Syracuse University Scholars, the highest undergraduate honor that the University bestows.

Ma wins fellowship from the National Committee on US China Relations

The highly competitive Public Intellectual Program Fellowship provides support for scholars who specialize in China and directly engage with public and policy communities. It has been awarded to Yingyi Ma, associate professor of sociology and director of Syracuse University’s Asian/Asian American Studies program.

Brege awarded Harvard University’s Villa I Tatti Fellowship

Brian Brege, assistant professor of history, has been awarded a Villa I Tatti Fellowship from Harvard University. The fellowship houses scholars for one-year, with full stipend, at the I Tatti Harvard University Center for Italian Renaissance Studies in Florence, Italy. Brege will use the fellowship to continue his research on the development of capitalism in Tuscany during the Italian Renaissance.
