Certificates of Advanced Study (CAS)

We offer several Certificates of Advanced Study options for midcareer professionals to pursue either as a stand-alone alternative to our EMPA or EMIR programs or concurrently with one of those Executive Master’s degrees. 

Stand-alone Certificate

Midcareer professionals may enroll in a stand-alone certificate program without being matriculated in a degree program. The certificate may be completed on a full-time basis over one semester or on a part-time basis spanning a longer time period.

Concurrent Certificate

Students may earn a Concurrent Certificate in conjunction with, and as part of, one of our 30-credit EMPA or EMIR programs.

Students enrolled in one of our MPA or MAIR programs are also eligible to earn a Concurrent Certificate. Compare our degrees and certificates to see which certificates may be earned concurrently with these programs.

A Certificate in Public Management and Policy is available to current graduate students enrolled in programs throughout Syracuse University who do not meet the requirements for our Executive CAS in Public Administration but, who may be interested in the MPA and unable to add the entire degree to their current program. The CAS in Public Management and Policy is 12 credits and is open to all graduate students in good standing except with programs where agreements for a dual/joint degree are already in place (Law, SUNY ESF and students in the MA IR).  For more information, please contact Director of Admission, Christine Omolino
