Elman is Professor of Political Science. Elman is (with Miriam Fendius
Elman) the co‐editor of Progress in International Relations Theory:
Appraising the Field (MIT Press); and Bridges and Boundaries:
Historians, Political Scientists, and the Study of International Relations
(MIT Press); (with John Vasquez) of Realism and the Balancing of Power: A
