Larsen Cited in New York Times Article on Rising COVID Cases in New York City

New York City doctors are reporting an influx of patients with COVID-19 symptoms and questions about vaccine eligibility as cases rise with the spread of a new variant. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says infections are growing in most states, though hospitalizations in New York remain low.

The New York State Wastewater Surveillance Network tracks the spread of COVID by detecting the virus in wastewater. David Larsen, lead epidemiologist for the network and professor and chair of public health, says COVID levels in the city’s wastewater were below average.
