Saba Siddiki, associate professor of public administration and international affairs, has been awarded two grants for projects beginning this fall.

A grant from the National Science Foundation (NSF) will support the work of the Institutional Grammar Research Initiative (IGRI), which convenes scholars from around the world who are interested in the study and practice of institutional analysis. The IGRI intends to provide policy designers a language with which to craft effective policies. The grant will be for the period 2019-2022, and will provide a funding amount of $461,854. Siddiki will be working with co-principal investigators Edella Schlager (University of Arizona), Charlie Schweik (University of Massachusetts, Amherst), Doug Rice (University of Massachusetts, Amherst), and Seth Frey (University of California, Davis) on this project. 

Her second project is part of a $2.5 million grant to Princeton University that aims to bring scientists and practitioners together to work on urban food action plans to advance human well-being and health, environment, and equity goals. The project is funded by a joint program of the NSF and the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) that focuses on Earth's physical resources and natural systems for food, energy, and water.

Siddiki, a senior research associate at the Center for Policy Research, specializes in policy design, collaborative policy making, and regulatory implementation and compliance. She has studied these topics in the contexts of food, transportation, and energy policy. She currently serves as associate editor for Policy Design and Practice.
