Taylor Weighs In on Trump’s Approach to Aiding Ukraine in Newsweek Article

President Donald Trump has shifted U.S. support for Ukraine by encouraging European NATO members to buy American-made weapons for Kyiv, contrasting with Joe Biden’s more direct military aid approach.
While Biden emphasized sanctions and coalition-building, Trump has focused on economic pressure, proposing tariffs on Russia and pushing for Europe to bear more financial responsibility for Ukraine’s defense.
This marks a different but potentially still substantial U.S. commitment to Ukraine.
“The good news for Ukraine is that...Trump has finally figured out that Putin is the main obstacle to peace,” says Brian Taylor, director of the Moynihan Institute of Global Affairs.
