Former President Donald Trump was arraigned in a New York City courtroom on Tuesday afternoon over charges related to falsifying business records connection with the 2016 election.
“This is the first time that we’ve had a president indicted,” Margaret Susan Thompson, associate professor of history and political science, tells CNY Central.
“This is not the end of what may happen,” says Thompson. “It may in fact be the beginning. We've never seen this before, and I don't think we can dismiss it as a partisan political act. Certainly, there have been other presidents who have had strong opposition in the past and yet they have not faced this kind of jeopardy.”
Thompson also spoke with News Radio 570 WSYR about Trump's arraignment.
