In the era of fake news, why do people hold onto beliefs that have been proven false? New research by Emily Thorson, assistant professor of political science, shines a light on these “belief echoes” and how they can be broken. She recently discussed the topic on WCNY's Capitol Pressroom. "Corrections of misinformation are constantly being amplified," says Thorson. People are trying to do something good by correcting the misinformation but in the process they're "pushing it out to more people and potentially causing more belief echoes to arise." 06/11/19
