Gadarian Discusses FL 15-Week Abortion Ban, Elections in TB Times

A bill that would ban most abortions after 15 weeks of pregnancy is sailing through the GOP-controlled Legislature in Florida. Professor Shana Kushner Gadarian says she doesn’t expect the restriction will affect Florida Republicans’ support this election cycle.

Shana Gadarian Quoted in USA Today Piece on Texas Abortion Law, Republicans

The Texas law includes a provision in which private citizens can sue abortion providers and anyone involved in "aiding and abetting" abortions, including someone driving a person to an abortion clinic. Gadarian, professor of political science, says this kind of very extreme ban, even amonst Republicans is not very popular.

Grant Reeher discusses the state politics behind abortion access in the TIme article, "Trump Keeps Talking About Second-Trimester Abortions. Here's What He Gets Wrong." As efforts heat up to ban abortion on a national level, blue states are looking to strengthen their abortion laws, while red states are attemtping to dismantle them. Reeher says these restrive efforts are meant "to be tested in courts."
