The 2025 Economic Report of the President, the fourth and last of the Biden administration, provides careful analyses of how the administration has implemented public policy to achieve the president’s economic goals.

The report's chapter on how to expand and strengthen U.S. health insurance coverage, cites a co-authored research study by Professor of Economics Gary Engelhardt. The study, “Medicare Part D and the Financial Protection of the Elderly,” examines the impact of the expansion of public prescription drug insurance coverage from Medicare Part D and finds Part D is associated with sizeable reductions in out-of-pocket spending.

In the same chapter, University Professor Jennifer Karas Montez's co-authored research study, “Affordable Care Act Medicaid Expansions and Maternal Morbidity,” is referenced. The results of the study show that the ACA Medicaid expansions are not statistically associated with pre-pregnancy health or maternal health during pregnancy.
