Brian Taylor, director of the Moynihan Institute of Global Affairs, was recently a guest on the Ukrainian podcast War & Politics 24 to discuss the Russia-Ukraine War.
“I think giving in to Russian demands, and we see this in Ukrainian public opinion polling, is kind of a nonstarter in Ukrainian politics. There would be a lot of outcry if Zelensky or any other Ukrainian leader submitted to an unjust peace that forced Ukraine into submission to Russian,” says Taylor.
“I think Putin's strategy is unlikely to work and unlikely to change the basic trajectory of the war, which is still that his strategic objectives that he set out at the very beginning of the invasion, which is basically to control Ukraine, will not be achieved. And he's only made the Ukrainian population more resistant to any kind of submission to Russian political domination,” Taylor says.
